5 Cricut project ideas for your paper scraps
Have you ever heard the quote, “A creative mind is rarely tidy?” We love that phrase because, for us, nothing has ever summed up what is going on in our minds and in our craft rooms better.
When you are in the thick of being creative, the last thing you want to worry about is the mess you’re making! From those creative messes, amazing things come to life, and many scraps are usually left behind. If you are like us, those scraps are hard to throw away. So, what should you do with them? We recently chatted about our top three ways to organize scraps, but now we want to give you some ideas of projects to create with those scraps, starting with paper scraps. Most ideas for scraps fall into one of three categories: strips, scraps, or tiny projects.
You can use cardstock or paper scraps in many different ways. You can cut them down into strips, use scraps for smaller projects, or even recycle them into sheets of handmade paper!
1. Embellished cards
We love Ingrid’s plethora of ideas of how to use strips of paper to make something new. She uses strips of paper woven together, applied in sunburst designs, and more to embellish cards. We think some of these creations are beautiful enough to be framed and hung on the wall!
2. Gift toppers and bows
Need a quick gift topper? I show just how easy it is to make a loop bow with strips of paper. This project instructs your Cricut to cut all of the strips, but you can totally use your scraps cut into strips instead!
3. Art from paper scraps
Tiny scraps of paper don’t have to be unusable. You may just need to rethink how to use them. Debbie from the Cricut community, made the cutest scrappy heart from potentially “unusable” scraps. We can’t wait to see it after she frames it.
4. Recycled paper
An idea that has really intrigued us is the possibility of making recycled paper from scrapbook paper scraps. Never Mind Lisa has a great tutorial on how to make your own paper from scratch!
