Summer Bucket List

Summer Bucket List Week 7

July 18, 2016 • Contributor: Caitlin Jolley, Cricut

  1. GAZE AT THE STARS
Load up some blankets and head outside to watch the stars. You can make these fun and educational Constellation Lacing Cards to help kids learn the shapes of the common star groups, or constellations. They also encourage the use and development of fine motor skills. Make these now in Design Space!

  1. CATCH A FISH
Reel in the summer fun by going fishing! Be sure to check the rules and regulations for your local waterways. And, whether or not you catch something, you can DIY some fun fishy style for your home.

  1. COOK OVER A CAMPFIRE
There's nothing like a good campfire meal when you're hungry and out in the fresh air! We recommend tinfoil dinners and s’mores for a tasty way to cook and easy clean up! Try this kid-friendly menu from Camping Café!

  1. GO TECH-FREE FOR A DAY
As much as we love (and I mean love) our smartphones, laptops, tablets, and more, we can all agree that we need a break from time to time. It doesn't help that some of us spend more time looking at devices than anything else. Take a break for a full 24 hours from tech devices, and get out and enjoy the sunshine!

  1. GO FOR A HIKE
One of our favorite activities is to go exploring outdoors! The kids love to write about and draw what they discover, so where better than in a mini book they make themselves? This easy Make It Now project prints black and white, so your little ones can color it as they like. And you can string it together with regular white paper to make it a little journal!

  1. SLEEP OUTSIDE
Craving old-fashioned family fun? Then put away the video games and pitch a tent in your backyard for a night of analog activities under the stars. By sticking close to home, your kids can feel safe and secure, be within walking distance of a bathroom, and still enjoy a family bonding experience! Make it a fun experience by following these 7 Ideas to go Backyard Camping from Parents.com. Happy camping!

  1. HIT THE BEACH
Yay, it’s a beach day! We like to take our small beach supplies (sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, book) in a handbag. That way, they don’t get crushed by the sand toys and towels. And, of course, you can add some easy DIY beach style to your bag with this easy Make It Now project!.

  1. NAP IN A HAMMOCK Hammocks rock! (See what we did there?) There’s no better way to pass the lazy days of summer than with a nice long outdoor nap! So grab a book, find a hammock, and settle in. Because sometimes a nap is calling and you must go!

What’s your favorite way to get outside in the summer? Tell us in the comments below, and if you missed last week see the full Cricut Summer Bucket List here.
