Meet the Maker: Anna Griffin Anna’s Fantastic Flips

We feel that any article featuring the incomparable Anna Griffin is exciting. But, this month, we’re really giving you reason to flip out!

Welcome to Cricut’s first–ever Anna Griffin sneak peek. We are thrilled to offer this initial look at projects made with Anna’s Fantastic Flips Card Making Cartridge. It won’t be available to purchase until early next year, but you can say you saw it first here.

You may have admired Anna’s incredible flip-card creations that were made using the Cuttlebug®, and now, she’s taking the making to a whole new level for Cricut Explore users.

Anna, tell us why you love this cartridge so much.
I love it because it offers you the most amount of impact with the least amount of effort.  It’s flipping fantastic! Take a look at this quick video, and you’ll see what I mean:

The cards really do flip! Tell us how people at home can make one.
All you need is your Cricut, Anna’s Fantastic Flips Card Making Cartridge, a scoring stylus and your personal printer to make these 3-D cards that actually flip.

We patterned this digital cartridge off the success of Anna Griffin Fantastic Flips Card Making Kit with Cutting Dies set.  That was a huge hit, and users wanted the opportunity to do more. We love to do what people ask of us!

One way to personalize these flip cards is to include two photos, such as “before” and “after” shots, or “kindergarten” and “high school senior” class photos. The possibilities are endless with this great mechanism, which is really the key to the card.

When can we get one?
Starting January 10, it will be available exclusively through HSN.  Later in the year, you’ll find it at other retailers, including Cricut.com.

What will the set include?
It’s a digital cartridge, so you’ll receive a card with a code that entitles you to the artwork. It won’t be coming in a box, which means less packaging and less waste.

The cartridge has 10 different styles of flip cards—versus the two styles that were in the last set. Included are the three that I’m sharing with you today.

Blue Card

These exquisite cards are die cut in just the right place. You’ll need to make a counter-intuitive “mountain and valley” fold, which will result in a fantastic flip.

What is the materials list?

Here’s all you’ll need to create this stunning card.

And the instructions?

  1. Cut
    Insert the Cricut Scoring Stylus into accessory clamp A.  Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to cut and score images from cardstocks.
  2. Assemble
    Start with the card facing as shown on Design Space.  Fold the right panel to the left to cover the center panel.  Fold back the left side of the right panel to expose the opposite patterned side. Fold the window panel to close the card.Attach outer and inner sentiment stickers.

    Adhere blue frame to front window panel with double-sided adhesive.

    Attach embellishments stickers on all four corners.

    Adhere gold bow to the top center with foam adhesive.

    Assemble and adhere envelope with double-sided adhesive

Purple Card

Friends and family will flip out when they receive this incredible DIY card. As Anna says, “If you
can’t sing, these celebratory cards are the next best thing!”

Here’s what you’ll need to make it:

Purple Card Step Out

The instructions are:

  1. Cut
    Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to score, draw and cut images from cardstocks.
  1. Assemble
    Start with the card facing as shown on Design Space.  Fold the right panel to the left to cover the center panel.  Fold back the left side of the right panel to expose the opposite patterned side. Fold the window panel to close the card.

    Adhere purple frame to circle sentiment with double-sided adhesive.  Attach to the center panel of the inner card with double-sided adhesive.

    Attach gold foil sticker to the top of card.

    Adhere sentiment and die cut embellishments with foam adhesive.

    Assemble and adhere envelope with double-sided adhesive. 

Green Card

The cut on the front of this beautiful card acts like a window for the sentiment you are sending.

Here’s everything you need to make this Fantastic Flip card.

And here are the instructions:

  1. Cut
    Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to score, draw and cut images from cardstocks.
  1. Assemble
    Start with the card facing as shown on Design Space.  Fold the right panel to the left to cover the center panel.  Fold back the left side of the right panel to expose the opposite patterned side. Fold the window panel to close the card.

    Assemble two light yellow and yellow flower embellishments with double-sided adhesive.  Adhere to front left side of card with double-sided adhesive.

    Using scissors, trim off top section of gold foil design.  Adhere to center oval of front window with double-sided adhesive.

    Adhere rectangle sentiment, yellow flower embellishment and one flower die cut embellishment to inside of card with double-sided adhesive.

    Adhere sentiment and remaining flower die cuts to front of card with foam adhesive.

    Assemble and adhere envelope with double-sided adhesive.

Do you have any embellishment tips you can share with us?
I sure do. When it comes to the embellishments, just decorate around the frame. And, if you’re using adhesive, place it on the card itself rather than the embellishment—that way, your creation won’t be glued closed!

  2. I am a big Anna Griffiin fan. I have her Cuttlebug dies for the flip cards, but I am really excited to be able to purchase the cartridge to make the cards also. Anna’s cards are the best and I love to make them. Can’t wait till January.

  14. OMG! I can’t wait…for the new cartridge…for Jan. 10th…and to see all the crafting goodies. I got a Cricut Explore Air for Christmas and I’m chomping at the bit to get started on ALL the projects. (I’m 75 years old and feel like I’m a teenager again with this Cricut!!! I was a graphic artist for 25 years and have been crafting since I retired. I love new challenges and this Cricut is going to do it for me for quite a while. I envy you, Anna and I admire you also.   17. I can’t get my fantastic flips to work on my cricut explore! It says may have expired or incorrect code etc. I need help please!?!

  18. I cannot find instructions any where for putting together the cards from Gracious Giftables digital cartridge. I have cut the graduation cap but I am unsure of what to do next. Also, if I had cut it the size that automatically comes up, a gift card would not fit in it. Please help.
