We featured this fabulous New York-based prop stylist and crafter in a recent Meet the Maker article. (If you didn’t have the chance to read it, check it out here. )
But her lavish creativity couldn’t be limited to one project, so we were delighted to have Andrea Greco return to share some of her favorite Cricut designs sure to make you feel like you’re seaside.
In this feature, she’s bringing her inspirational vision indoors with a nautical-themed décor project that she named after her favorite movie: A Summer Place. By incorporating seasonal icons into transformational DIY endeavors for the home, she shows us how to make the perfect summer setting… whether you hang your sunhat inside a sprawling beach estate or a tiny city apartment.
Maker maven Andrea Greco.
You’re a city girl now, but tell us about your coastal roots.
I grew up on the beach in Carmel, California, so I’m inspired by all things beachy. One of my dreams is to own a cottage by the ocean. But, until then I’m happy to theme out the space I have with nautical elements — which are trending right now.
It wouldn’t be summer without a stroll by the ocean!
Does the décor in your home change with the seasons?
It changes pretty much weekly! I’ll make little updates that transform the way a room feels. When the weather gets warmer, I’ll switch out my duvet cover to something lighter and brighter. I also love to create vignettes: they’re small, fun little scenes that can reflect the season.
Take a look at these simple DIY décor projects that transform plain, easy-to-find pieces into unique treasures sure to whisk you to the beach at first glance!
