In Case You Missed It

October 31, 2016 • Contributor: Scarlet Letters Copywriting

Big things have been taking place here at Cricut! So many, in fact, that we thought we’d highlight some of the most exciting happenings that have our creative gears turning and our machines happily cutting away. Follow us through some of the developments during the month of October….

HSN

We knew that that it would be a big deal when Anna Griffin unveiled the Cricut Explore® Air 2 on HSN… we just didn’t expect that it would be one of the most successful events we’ve ever had on TV!  It was the first time we did a full-hour Today’s Special on HSN, and it was 60 very packed minutes of amazing projects, tips on how to get the most from your machine and enthusiastic feedback from some of Anna’s thrilled fans via call-ins and Skype. And “thrilled” may be an understatement. Viewers were treated to a number of firsts: four different colors to choose from at launch and a one-year subscription to Cricut Access in Design Space with purchase. It was an exciting and exhilarating launch, and we can’t wait to see the projects that are made as a result!

Create Crate

HSN shoppers were inspired to create and more by Anna and the HSN team. The crafts on-set set the mood for fabulousness and fun!

Create Art Supply Caddy
Happy Birthday Script Wrap
Mermaid Wallet

Just look at that beautiful hunk of machine. Rowr! The Anna Griffin Explore® Air 2 was, of course, one of the two top-selling machines. The other was the lovely rose version.

Projects on Shelves

From DIY paper creations to a seriously covetable pair of rain boots, Anna took viewers on a
Cricut journey of amazing possibilities. Of course, many people were tuned in to the adorable
pale blue Explore® Air 2 on this lovely wall display.

Other projects featured included DIY invites from our recent Wedding campaign, baby paper crafts and gift embellishments.

Giraffe Box
Hopelessly Romantic Wedding Program

Personalized Items

Viewers also saw how easy it is to personalize everyday items like water bottles, cell phones, picture frames and coffee mugs with their own style and sayings. The Explore® Air 2 makes the process of creating these faster and easier than before!

Projects:
A String of Hearts Mug
Water Bottles with Sass

Heidi Swapp’s New Cartridge

Calling all Heidi fans (isn’t everyone?)! One of our most popular creators has a new cartridge coming out next month and it’s filled with fonts, eye-catching imagery, bold colors and projects to bring a smile anytime of the year! We spoke to the busy designer briefly about the cartridge, what she’s working on and how crafting can create community….

What projects are you working on?

Right now, I’m working on a brand-new memory keeping system that’s coming out in March. It’s really a passion of mine, as it’s a bridge between planning, journaling and scrapbooking. And I love that I’m helping people find a way to lay down ideas so they can easily rebuild a memory later.

The perfect tote for a student in your life or a trip to the farmer’s market, Heidi’s “Love Your Selfie” bag charms everyone.

What exciting trends do you see happening in the crafting world?
I love that there continues to be a real surge in planners. I really think it’s because if you document your life, it keeps you living more authentically and self-aware. It’s a simple thing that can really infuse other areas of your life, too. People seem to be gravitating toward more tangible things after a period where the trend was to do everything digitally. I think they missed touching and feeling the items in their lives.

There’s nothing more personal than displaying photographs of the ones you love the most. These DIY cubes do just that with more than a touch of charm and whimsy.

Is there anything else you’d like followers of your amazing designs to know?
The thing I love about cutting with a machine is the possibilities are endless. Invite people over. Involve your kids. Crafting like this is such an amazing way to start a social event and build a community. I keep hearing that people are missing the social component that scrapbooking used to be. That’s why a cartridge and a Cricut machine are such good tools for bringing people together to collaborate. People can pool supplies and try all sorts of new ideas in a welcoming environment. Sharing that process is so important. It’s a small investment for you with a big payoff!

Want to sweeten someone’s day? Add one of these cheerful tags to almost anything and it becomes an instant treat!

Thanks, Heidi! We can’t wait to bring our friends together when your cartridge debuts!

In Conclusion….
