In Case You Missed It – 2016 Round-Up – Part 1

December 28, 2016 • Contributor: Scarlet Letters Copywriting

How can 2016 possibly be over? Here at Cricut, we’ve been so busy creating all sorts of things that the time has flown by in the most amazing way possible. Since there was so much going on, we thought we’d take one last stroll down this year’s memory lane. Of course, it can’t all fit into one blog post, so stay tuned tomorrow as well!

The Air 2 Release

This was a biggie, and we couldn’t be prouder of the response to our latest and greatest machine. We know time is a really big deal to our clients, so Cricut focused its efforts this past year on making the Air 2 faster and more efficient than its predecessors. The response was incredible!

This rose version of the Cricut Air 2 was a sweet deal to a lot of customers. Along with The Anna Griffin Explore Air 2, it was our most popular seller.

In October, maker extraordinaire Anna Griffin took to HSN for an hour-long special presenting a number of firsts: the first time customers could choose from four different colors at launch and the first time they could receive a one-year subscription to Cricut Access in Design Space with purchase. A number of projects lined the walls, and Anna explained how the Air 2 makes the whole DIY crafting experience easier, more accessible and more magical! Not only has cutting time significantly decreased with the Air 2, but now you can write up to two times faster with this speed machine. It continues to be one of our bestsellers, earning rave reviews.

So much to craft… at least now there’s more time!

Design on the Go

We know that our customers lead busy lives, so we’ve made it a goal to make our tools the best out there for leveraging every available free moment. That’s why Design on the Go was another standout from our lineup this year. Easy to learn, easy to use, and just recently accessible on Android!

Design me this. Design me that. Designing could not be any easier with this nifty little app.

Using Design on the Go is a breeze. Simply open up a Design Space project on your smartphone or tablet and make any tweaks you’d like. Measure your surface to make sure things are sized correctly. Cut your materials using your Cricut. And then apply! It’s the perfect tool for any busy person who still loves a personalized touch.

Because your imagination doesn’t stop when you leave your Cricut machine….

The Wedding Campaign

2016 was all about “the wedding” here at Cricut. Right here on this blog, we hosted an incredible, one-of-a-kind wedding with over 100 unique projects customized for our couple, Hailey and Brent. With lovely partner tie-ins and incredible giveaways, it was a match made in heaven.

The special wedding couple from our sensational event. Relive their marriage journey here.

Everything from the lace on the menus to the font was designed by our talented team at Cricut.

The floral lace motif from the bride’s dress was recreated on the cake. Everything was done with one thing in mind… “It’s Your Story. Make It Personal.”

We knew it was an inspiring campaign, giving brides the creative inspiration to personalize their journeys, but we were delighted to see what some of our talented partners came up with as well! These were some of our favorites, organized by five DIY wedding milestones….

The Engagement Party

Hey Wedding Lady created a stunning engagement party that stands out from the crowd.
Gold, glitter, and glam… this couple knows how to celebrate good news with style!

Sending Your Announcements
Glamour & Grace mastered the art of the big reveal with these inviting DIY photo envelope liners that are the ultimate personalized touch for wedding announcements.

The Bridal Shower
Celebrations at Home gave a traditional bridal shower more than a touch of class with this black and gold theme. Using her Explore Air, she created round menu cards, diamond confetti pieces, a cake topper, a framed sign, favor boxes, a bar sign and even a trivia game. Swank!

The Wedding Itself

Something Turquoise outdid themselves with a stunning mermaid-themed ceremony the likes of
which we’ve never seen before. Everything was crafted with the Cricut, from the customized cake
topper featuring the couple as man and mermaid to chairs labeled with “Her Captain” and “His
Mermaid.” It sure made a splash here at Cricut!

Happily Ever After
Hey Wedding Lady scored again with this whimsical DIY chalkboard map that is easy to make and fun to chalk up with all the places the married couple will visit together.

But wait, there’s more! In Part 2 tomorrow, discover how our Baby Campaign made everyone giggle and reunite with some of the incredible people featured in our Meet the Maker posts. Oh 2016, you were simply unforgettable!

  1. Noticed you have 2017 in some places. No matter loved this post. I purchased the blue Air 2. Have been experimenting with it and have had a few problems. I loved this post. So many interesting ideas and themes

  2. All of this is so beautiful. I have 4 granddaughters in their teens, so a wedding or two could happen in the come years. I will remember all the beautiful things that can be made with my Cricuts. Thank you .

  3. Don’t you mean “how could 2016 possibly be over?” I can barely believe that 2016 is over let alone another year already, lol!
