DIY Bookmark International Literacy Day, Literally!

August 25, 2016 • Contributor: Julie May

Parents know the struggle is real when trying to get kids to put down their devices and pick up books. Thank goodness school is back in session making reading a bit more palpable.

Let’s get kids excited about book reading right in time for International Literacy Day on September 8th by crafting one-of-a-kind bookmarks. And this year’s theme is Literacy and Sustainable Societies – which is perfect since we are going to show you some DIY bookmark projects that can be made with recycled paper.

But reading is for all ages so make a bookmark for yourself and a friend. We’ve got a slew of designs to get you started. Hey, we’re always on the same page.

Southwest style for a good ole’ western story.

Perfect for the reader who loves fantasy.

Here’s a two-in-one. Color in your bookmark.

Little kids will get a bite...

out of reading.

For that little girl who can’t get enough fairy tales.

Go monogram crazy with this adorable design from Damask Love.

Oh, the places we will go!

Happy reading. Share with us how you like to curl up with a good book. #cricutmade
