June 27, 2016 • Contributor: Caitlin Jolley, Cricut

Are you ready for the most jawsome week of the year?! Shark Week premiered yesterday on Discovery Channel and is going strong for six more days. We’ve got lots of great summer bucket list items to help you really get into the spirit of Shark Week!

  1. VISIT THE AQUARIUM
Ever wondered what’s the real point of Shark Week? Well, this week-long holiday means more than just watching sharks swim on TV. The program was originally started to raise awareness and respect for sharks, and now has become one of the longest running cable events in history. One way to become more aware is to visit your local aquarium.

  1. DIY SHARK
We’ve got some pretty great images as part of our Shark cartridge and as our Shark week gift to you enjoy ALL of the images below for FREE this week (from June 26-July 2, 2016). Make something now and show us your projects using #CricutSummer

  1. THROW A SHARK MOVIE PARTY
Don’t just camp out in front of the TV alone this year! Throw a Shark Week viewing party complete with themed treats, décor, and drinks! We are obsessed with this adorable décor fromEveryday Party Mag.

  1. DONATE TO A SHARK FOUNDATION
Again, the real point of Shark Week is to raise awareness and respect for sharks, after all, they are endangered. And what better to help out than to donate to a shark charity!

  1. MAKE YOUR RING TONE THE JAWS THEME SONG
    Nothings says SHARKS quite like

duunnn dunnn... duuuunnnn duun... duuunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn dunnnn

  • Show your Shark Week pride by switching your ringtone, ringback tone, and anything else you can to the Jaws theme song!

  1. USE THE GLOBAL SHARK TRACKER
If you want to know what sharks around the world are up to—like, right now!—then you have to try the Global Shark Tracker. This awesome tool from ocearch.com allows you to follow the movements of sharks in real time!

  1. TRY THE ULTIMATE SHARKS APP
Learn all you can about sharks this week by tuning into Discovery Channel. This week’s schedule has lots of awesome-sounding programs like Sharksanity, Nuclear Sharks, and Sharks vs. Dolphins: Face Off. Tune in to learn more!
    AND
Check out the Ultimate Sharks App from Discovery here.

  1. CREATE SHARK APPAREL
Since you probably can’t watch all 168 hours of Shark Week, shark apparel is the perfect way to show people you’re celebrating. It’s just like wearing green to work on St. Patrick’s Day. The Crafted Sparrow used her Cricut Explore Air to make this adorable shark-inspired shirt.

So tell us in the comments below: Do you think Shark Week lives up to the hype?
