Summer Bucket List

Summer Bucket List Week 11

August 15, 2016 • Contributor: Caitlin Jolley, Cricut

Summer is the best time of year to get out, make memories, and have fun! With kids out of school and more free time, it’s also the perfect time to volunteer, give back, and do more for your community. This week’s summer bucket list is all about helping others! Share your stories with us on Instagram and Facebook using #CricutCares.

  1. DONATE LEMONADE $ Kids love lemonade stands! They love making the signs, stirring the lemonade, and, of course, collecting the money. We’ve got all kinds of cute Make It Now projects in Design Space to help you make an adorable lemonade stand. Only this time, instead of keeping the cash, donate it to your favorite organization.
We’ve all got extra items we’d like to give to those who could use them, but did you know you can even donate items like musical instruments and medical supplies? This list of 21 things you never knew you could donate from Buzzfeed will help you find even more items around the house to put to good use.

Rather than spend the day at the beach or amusement park, spend a full day volunteering. Not only will you still make amazing memories and new friends, it’s good for you! No really, it’s good for your health. Read more about the benefits of giving here.

Brighten up someone’s day with a surprise gift to say thank you or just because! We’ve got all kinds of ideas in Design Space that are perfect for showing someone you care, like these adorable planters.
  1. HAND MAKE A CARD Take the time to make a beautiful handmade card and deliver it in person. Whether you choose to make a thank-you card for a veteran or deliver get-well-soon cards to the local children’s hospital, you’re sure to bring a smile to someone’s face with a personal note.

Create a bookmark and leave a surprising note of inspiration in a library book! Make a connection with someone who loves your favorite book by making one of these adorable bookmarks here or here. Write a nice note on the back. Then go to the library and leave it for someone to find!
  1. HAND OUT COMPLIMENTS Combat negativity and brighten someone’s day by giving out as many sincere compliments as you can! It’s Simply Lindsey tells you how to master the art of giving and accepting compliments in her post here.
  1. FIND INSPIRATION Add positivity and encouragement to your life by finding a quote to live by! Go the extra mile and turn it into wall art that you can see every day as a reminder to do good.

Tell us in the comments below how you plan to help others this week!
